New Delhi, Oct 30 (KNN) Efforts of the present government has reduced the interface with government as most of the processes have moved online, said Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Speaking at the US India Strategic Partnership Forum, Jaitley said that the whole concept of governance has witnessed a sea of change which has led to decline in corruption.

He said “The efforts on part of the government have led to reduction in interface with the government as most of the processes have moved online.”

Highlighting increasing transparency in governance by the Narendra Modi-led NDA government, Jaitley said that this government has eliminated discretion letting the market mechanism to take over in natural resources which has led to reduction in corruption.

Further he added that as most of the permissions have moved online, people from the industry now no longer have the need to come and visit our offices, he said.

"FIPB permissions have been abolished and investments flow is based on their own strength," he added.

He further estimated that the tax base has gone up with various initiatives like demonetization and the GST.

The time government came into power, the number of tax payers were 3.8 and now it is about to reach 7.5 crore at the end of the year which is almost double.

On the IBC process to resolve insolvency cases, Jaitley said that both IBC & demonetisation brought about moral quotient which was badly needed in India.
