Centre Approves Rs 13,427 Crore for 11.19 Lakh PMAY-G Houses in Bihar

Patna, Aug 21 (KNN) The Centre has approved 11,18,937 pucca houses for Bihar under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), involving an allocation of Rs 13,427 crore.

The announcement was made by Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan at a state-level PMAY-G programme in Patna.

In addition to housing, Chouhan announced the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) in Bihar, plans to establish She-Marts to support products made by women’s self-help groups, and highlighted the State's progress in creating 53.83 lakh Farmer IDs.

Over the past two years, Bihar has received approval for 24,30,327 houses, involving expenditure of Rs 29,164 crore, Chouhan said.

The implementation of PMFBY is expected to provide eligible farmers insurance coverage against crop losses caused by natural calamities such as floods, drought and excessive rainfall.

On women's economic empowerment, the Minister said efforts would be made to establish She-Marts in every district to provide market access to products made by Jeevika Didis and women-led self-help groups.

Chouhan also noted that 53,83,000 Farmer IDs have been created in Bihar, which are expected to help streamline the identification of beneficiaries and delivery of government schemes.

The programme was attended by Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, along with state ministers, public representatives, beneficiaries and government officials.
