GST blues: Small-scale industry in Ludhiana still grappling with complications

New Delhi, Oct 4 (KNN) With over three months into the newly implemented Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the country, the small-scale industries of Ludhiana are still struggling with the complications of compliance in the new tax regime.

Jaswinder Singh, EC member of the Small Scale Manufacturers Association (SSMA) in a press interview informed that the small-scale industry is in a bad situation due to the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Listing the problems with the One Nation One Tax regime, Singh informed that the government is yet to return the VAT refunds because of which the capital of the industry is all blocked.

Singh also spoke of the problems with the GST portal. He informed that the units in his region have complained the server issues with the official GST site.

Earlier, the machine tool MSMEs from Ludhiana complained similar problems with regard to the new taxation.

Talking to KNN, Upkar Singh Ahuja, G.S of Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) informed that with almost three months into the new taxation, different sectors of the industry including machine tool industry is badly hit under the GST regime.

The problem of capital blockage remains to be a big concern for the MSMEs under the GST wherein one has to pay the taxes first and then ask for the refunds, Ahuja added. (KNN/DA)
