Meghalaya Cabinet Clears Ordinance to Speed Up MSME Business Operations
Shillong, Oct 14 (KNN) The Meghalaya Cabinet on Tuesday approved an ordinance to simplify clearance procedures for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), allowing entrepreneurs to apply for multiple approvals simultaneously to speed up the establishment of business operations.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said the Meghalaya Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Facilitation and Establishment of Operations Ordinance would make it easier for businesses to obtain the necessary clearances without removing any existing regulatory requirements.
He emphasised that the Ordinance would not exempt MSMEs from any requirements but would significantly ease the process for them.
The move was part of the state's efforts to improve ease of doing business and was aligned with guidelines issued by the Centre to simplify regulatory procedures across states, Sangma added.
The facilitation will apply only to white-category industries, which do not require pollution-related Consent to Establish (CTE) and Consent to Operate (CTO).
It will cover clearances such as those from the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and municipal bodies, along with other registrations, Sangma said.
