Noida Entrepreneurs Association Seeks 2-3 Year Extension For Industrial Plot Deadlines

Lucknow, Aug 4 (KNN) The Noida Entrepreneurs Association (NEA) has requested the Noida Authority to extend the deadline for making industrial plots operational by two to three years, citing construction delays caused by environmental restrictions and procedural requirements.

NEA Seeks 2-3 Year Extension For Industrial Plot Deadlines

The association said the existing five-year deadline for constructing and operationalising industrial units after plot allotment is inadequate under current conditions.

NEA President Vipin Malhan said construction activity is suspended between October and February due to restrictions implemented in line with National Green Tribunal (NGT) guidelines, reported Hindustan Times. 

The restrictions also result in the movement of workers to their native places, with construction often taking another two to three months to resume after the curbs are lifted.

The association said these factors effectively result in a construction delay of nearly six months each year. NEA also cited disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, including the exodus of migrant workers and labour shortages at construction sites.

NEA Proposes Longer Extensions For Larger Plots

The association has sought an additional two years for industrial plots measuring up to 20,000 square metres and three years for plots exceeding 20,000 square metres.

It said the proposed extension would provide entrepreneurs sufficient time to complete construction, commence operations and obtain the mandatory occupancy certificate (OC), which is required for an industrial unit to be classified as operational by the authority.

Noida Authority To Examine NEA's Request

Noida Authority Additional CEO Satish Pal said the competent authority would examine the matter and take necessary action, adding that the authority has taken cognisance of the NEA's request.

Separately, the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has granted a four-month extension for housing projects affected by the West Asia conflict. The relief applies to projects whose original, revised or previously extended completion date falls on or after February 28, 2026.
