Corning Inc, SGD Pharma to set up pharmaceutical packaging glass facility in Telangana

Hyderabad, Feb 27 (KNN) Corning Incorporated is collaborating with SGD Pharma to set up a top-notch facility for manufacturing the pharmaceutical packaging glass in Telangana, said Telangana IT minister KT Rama Rao on Sunday.

As per reports, both the companies will jointly invest over Rs 500 crore for setting up the facility.

“I’m delighted that Corning, which is a fortune 500 company, and SGD Pharma will be setting up a world-class facility here. The manufacturing of pharmaceutical packaging glass from Telangana will accelerate the growth of life sciences sector by ensuring adequate and seamless supply of the world-renowned corning glass tubing sets to our manufacturers,” he said.

“We are proud to partner with Corning and Telangana to reinforce the strength of the pharmaceutical industry in Telangana by securing the full supply chain of primary packaging,” said Managing Director of SGD Pharma Akshay Singh.

On the side-lines of the BioAsia Summit 2023, a series of multi-crore investments from leading pharma companies were announced for the state on February 26.

US-headquartered Foxx Life Sciences will be investing Rs 200 crore to expand capabilities in pharmaceutical SUT. Another major investment came from Surface Measurement Systems group of companies, a major in particulate material, which announced opening up of particle characterisation laboratories (PCL) with an investment of over USD 200 million as initial capital investment.  (KNN Bureau)
