Telangana To Roll Out New Green Energy Policy For Sustainable Growth

Hyderabad, Dec 16 (KNN) Telangana is on the brink of introducing a new green energy policy, according to Musharaff Faruqui, Chairman and Managing Director of Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company (TGSPDCL).

The announcement came during an international conference on clean energy for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which highlighted the state's commitment to sustainable energy development.

The conference, jointly organised by the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) and the Union Ministry of MSMEs, drew over 400 delegates from India, Germany, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.

Participants focused on strategies for emissions-free growth and enhanced energy efficiency across industrial sectors.

Key stakeholders emphasised the critical need for MSMEs to transition to renewable energy sources.

Ajay Mishra, Former Special Chief Secretary For Energy, pointed out the current limitations, noting that renewables currently contribute less than 1 percent of power consumption among MSMEs.

Srinivas Cherla from the Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad stressed the importance of policy reforms and underscored the potential economic advantages of green energy adoption.

Despite being a landlocked state that provides free electricity to farmers, Telangana demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainable energy transformation.

FTCCI President Suresh Kumar Singhal and Dr. Sunchu Glory Swarupa of Ni-MSME called for increased governmental support to facilitate this transition, characterising the initiative as a pivotal move towards India's clean energy revolution.

The impending green energy policy represents a significant step forward in Telangana's approach to sustainable industrial development, potentially setting a precedent for other regions in India's ongoing energy transition.
