Telangana-Works to set up PCB fabrication facility with Qualcomm grant

Hyderabad, Apr 1 (KNN) The Telangana government led T-Works has secured grant from US-based chipmaker Qualcomm's Indian arm for setting up a multilayer printed circuit board (PCB) fabrication facility at T-Works.
The prototyping centre has signed a grant agreement with the chip making company.
The facility will enable rapid fabrication of up to 12-layer boards and accelerate electronic product prototyping and development.
Currently it takes a PCB manufacturer 10-15 days to fabricate an electronics board at certain minimum order quantities but the new facility at T-Works would help get quality PCBs at low volumes within a day, T-Works said.
With this in place, innovators using the T-Works facilties will be able to design, fabricate, assemble, and test their electronic products, all under one roof, lowering cost, time, and complexity for product innovation, T-Works added.
The fabrication capability will support the development of a range of products including electric vehicles, medical devices, industrial automation products, consumer electronics, among others.
T-Works CEO Sujai Karampuri said apart from the grant being provided by Qualcomm India as part of its corporate social responsibility, it has also agreed to lend its expertise to run the facility.
"This is a long-term engagement with Qualcomm dedicating a team to support us," Karampuri added.
He said the move is part of efforts to make Telangana, and India, the preferred manufacturing destination for electronics.
Qualcomm India Pvt Ltd vice president of engineering Shashi Reddy said, “We understand the need for such facilities to drive innovation and also understand that not everyone will have the same kind of reach and resources that we have. The state government has taken a stride in the form of T-Works to democratise access to high-end tools as well as talent...to make India a leader in product innovation with Hyderabad at its epicentre."
