CAQM regulations for DG set use in NCR to come into force from Oct 1

New Delhi, June 7 (KNN) The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has notified the regulations schedule for the use of DG set in National Capital Region (NCR) and Adjoining Areas which would come into force from 1 October 2023.

Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) took initiative in this matter and as a result a Joint Petition signed by 26 Industrial Associations was submitted to CAQM in September 2022 for review of order on use of DG sets in NCR.

Commission also received representations from industrial associations, commercial entities, business organizations and individuals. Many MSME associations have cited huge financial burden towards implementation of the regulations related to DG sets.

MSME associations have also pointed out the many constraints and difficulties they face in complying with the regulations.

Some of these constraints are- lack of certified vendors for all capacities of DG sets up to 800 kW capacity, availability of gas supply dedicatedly for DG sets, and high cost of retro-fitment of dual fuel kits.

The extension of timeline for implementation of regulations is a welcome step for MSMEs in NCR as the practical aspects and constraints involved have been taken into consideration by the Commission.  (KNN Bureau)
