Delhi Govt To Push For Women Enrolment In ITIs

New Delhi, Aug 28 (KNN) Delhi Education Minister Atishi has directed the officials to conduct an outreach programme to encourage women to enrol in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), reported TOI. 

She said that ITIs will be a good platform for them to become self-reliant and financially independent.

Interacting at Jija Bai ITI for women at south Delhi's Siri Fort, the Minister examined the labs of fashion design, textile designing, hospitality management and information technology. 

During the inspection she also interacted with the students and discussed the range of courses available.

"However, there is a need to further increase the participation of female students in our ITIs. Officials should visit Delhi government schools to educate students about the modern courses offered. There is a lower participation of women in both technical education and professions compared to men. There is a need to enhance the enrolment of girls in these institutions," she said while mentioning that Delhi government provides free skill education to girls in its ITIs.
