CMIA submits memorandum to state tourism dept to promote tourism in Aurangabad Region

New Delhi, Apr 12 (KNN) Promoting tourism in the Aurangabad region, the Chamber of Marathwada Industries and Agriculture (CMIA) has recently submitted a detailed memorandum for the development of Ajanta and Ellora, an iconic tourist site during the stakeholder consultation meeting.

During a meeting with the officials from State Tourism Department, CMIA had put a light on the long pending demands of the stakeholders for promoting Tourism in Aurangabad and requested the concerned authorities to address them.

The first demand that they made is that allocation of budget for connecting Aurangabad and international flights with countries like Sri-Lanka, Dubai, Singapore and Japan in order to attract foreign tourists to ‘Ajanta and Ellora’, including Aurangabad in ‘Bodh Gaya’ circuit.

Second, they have demanded improvement in domestic air connectivity and connection between Aurangabad and tourist circuits like ‘Delhi-Agra-Jaipur-Udaipur’ and other important tourist destinations.

Further, setting up of Light and Music Show at Ajanta / Ellora / Deorigi Fort / Bibika Makbara, to attract visitors/citizens, in this regard, Deogiri Fort is the best option, CMIA mentioned.

Next they highlighted on the need for establishing Golf Course of International standards near ‘Ajanta-Ellora’ and also suggested that the destination can be promoted for ‘Golf Tourism’ to host National and International Golf Tournaments which will attract leisure tourists having passion for golf.

Moreover, they stressed on the need of completion of Aurangabad Airport expansion project on priority basis so that Big Charter Flights of International Tourists can land at Aurangabad.

In order to increase the footfalls, special efforts should be made with proper coordination between various Govt.Depts. & Ministries such as Ministry of Commerce and Industry, External Affairs Ministry to plan visits of foreign delegations to iconic Tourist sites near Aurangabad.

They also mentioned that Iconic Tourist sites like ‘Ajanta and Ellora’ needs to be promoted and marketed well in India and abroad for attracting tourists and Branding of ‘Destination Aurangabad’ needs to be done through all possible avenues.

The other demands on the list include establishment of Centre of Excellence for tourism at Ajanta and Ellora, Hosting Ellora festival every year, constructing ropeway near Ajanta Caves and creation of International Convention and Exhibition Centre(ICCE) to attract more tourists in this region.

Seeing the huge potential in Aurangabad region, CMIA has requested the government to support activities like Marathon.

Also they made a demand of organizing Bird Festival’ near Aurangabad as various birds migrate attract to this region every year which can add more tourist’s footfalls. (KNN/YV)
