NSDC and PIOCCI inks pact to strengthen Skill India Mission

New Delhi, Mar 7 (KNN) With an objective to strengthen Skill India Mission, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with People of Indian Origin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PIOCCI).

PIOCCI is a non-profit organization that seeks to explore new dimensions on showcasing and building economic partnership between India and its Diaspora whereas NSDC is a non-profit entity set up to address the need for providing skilled manpower across various industry sectors.

The main focus of the agreement between the NSDC and PIOCCI is to support skilling initiatives and enhance India’s soft power along with work on various opportunities nationally and internationally.

The agreement also lays importance on placements for skilled Indian youth abroad; including placement support and leveraging industry connect.

On this occasion, Manish Kumar, MD & CEO, NSDC emphasized on the need of standardization and high-quality skill training to create a world-class workforce.

He further said that this collaboration will strengthen the efforts by mapping skill gaps in various countries, identifying gainful job opportunities overseas.”

Abhay Aggarwal, Secretary General, PIOCCI said "We are delighted to partner with NSDC to expand footprint of Skill India mission around the world.”

He further said that working closely with reputed entrepreneurs and Indian Diaspora associations in more than 150 countries, PIOCCI objective is to act as a bridge to connect and organize a regular interaction with the Diaspora to seek employment opportunities for skilled Indian youth.”

NSDC and PIOCCI will work jointly in order to understand the skill gaps in various countries and the required skills that are necessary to bring qualitative improvement in the skill development training programs in India.

Further this collaboration between them would help in knowledge exchange to facilitate development programs for trainees, trainers and assessors.

The partnership will also help in mobilizing funds for the skill ecosystem including co-investment in setting up skill institutes, skill universities, Centre of Excellence, entrepreneurship programs, and other skilling initiatives. (KNN/YV)
