Gurugram Industrial Areas Face Waterlogging Concerns After Pre-monsoon Rains

Gurugram, Jun 27 (KNN) Recent mild showers have once again highlighted infrastructure challenges in Gurugram's industrial areas, with several locations experiencing waterlogging.

In response, the Industrial Association has approached the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) to address these issues before the onset of monsoon season.

JN Mangla, President, Gurgaon Industrial Association, stated, "Even light precipitation causes significant disruption in our industrial zones.”

He added, “The streets are in poor condition, and there is an urgent need for an improved drainage system and high-capacity pumps to mitigate potential flooding during the monsoon."

A delegation of industrialists, led by Mangla, met with HSIIDC Deputy General Manager Arun Garg to discuss the waterlogging problem.

The group reported that rainfall not only impedes access to industrial units but also leads to flooding within the facilities, resulting in financial losses.

"Rainwater infiltration damages products, interrupts manufacturing processes, and creates difficulties for employees commuting to work," Mangla explained.

He further highlighted, "In some areas, electrical infrastructure is also compromised. This recurring annual issue requires a permanent solution.

“We have requested that HSIIDC upgrade our infrastructure to match that of Gurugram's Millennium City area," Mangla mentioned.

The Industrial Association has also called for the deployment of super-sucker machines to help prevent waterlogging during the monsoon season.

HSIIDC officials have not yet commented on the association's requests. The situation underscores the ongoing challenges faced by Gurugram's industrial sector in maintaining operational efficiency during adverse weather conditions.
