500 MSMEs to be shifted out of residential areas in Lucknow

Lucknow, Aug 8 (KNN) The Lucknow administration is ready to send  notices to around 500 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the city which are operating in the residential areas violating the safety norms.

As per the media reports, city Magistrate Vinod Kumar has directed the Lucknow district administration to ask the fire department, municipal corporation and labour department to give a final report on these factories so that notices can be issued to them.

Speaking on the issue, Indian Industries Association President, Manish Goel told KNN that the process of shifting factories from residential areas had started years back but nothing had happened till date.

He demanded that government should provide them land so that they can shift from densely populated areas and can operate their factories in a dedicated industrial area.

“Government does not provide any land to them”, he alleged.

IIA President said that noise pollution is the main reason behind shifting the units.

“We don’t think that government will take any action,” he said.

The Magistrate said that these units needed to be shut down within the city limits and moved out.

These big and small factories are largely engaged in production of false ceiling, plastic articles, plastic paint and plywood and are scattered around in Rajajipuram, Jankipuram, Aliganj, Chinhat and Aishbagh areas of the capital of Uttar Pradesh. (KNN Bureau)
