Itanagar, Sept 24 (KNN)  Arunachal Pradesh Government is considering to enhance the minimum wage of labourers in the state soon.

This was stated by the Chief Minister Nabam Tuki in the Assembly yesterday.

Tuki said the State Government recently took up the proposal for revision of wages and it would soon be taken up in the cabinet.

“We propose to fix the new wage from Rs 150 to 190 per day, area-wise depending on the climate and topography of the area,” he said.

The government is also considering a medical allowance of Rs 250 for labourers in all categories, as also an additional allowance of Rs 500 to those working in challenging environments.

Other north eastern states may take a page from Arunachal Pradesh’s book, to ensure well-being of their industrial workers.

Meanwhile, the Association of Industries Madhya Pradesh (AIMP), has appealed to the government to reassess the wage revision that was recommended by the Minimum Wages Advisory Committee, saying that the move would hurt MSME units in the state.

Given the economic slowdown and inflation which have led to high cost of production, the proposal will affect the industry, it said.  (KNN/ES)
