Bengal likely to get investments from Germany in textile sector, says AITC

Germany’s AMANN Group keen to set up textile unit in Bengal; MSME dept to facilitate linkage with local units

Munich, Sep 9 (KNN) West Bengal Government has said that the AMANN Group of Germany is likely to set up a large textile unit in West Bengal to manufacture specialized threads.

All India Trinamool Congress said in a statement that the Bengal Government has asked its MSMET department to facilitate linking it with the private textile manufacturers of the state.

“The dialogue will continue as all the dignitaries were invited to Bengal,” All India Trinamool Congress said.

The interaction was attended by Senator H.C. Zaki Kursun, GM, East West, a large importer of home furnishing textiles. He said he is highly interested in sourcing from Bengal. 

AMANN is one of the leading international manufacturers of high-quality sewing and embroidery threads.

Meanwhile, so far no statement has been issued by the AMANN Group about their plans to set up the unit in Bengal.

An interaction was organized by Government of West Bengal, Consulate General Munich, BMW and FICCI in Munich on Thursday.

The textile industry of Kolkata plays a significant role in the economy of the capital city of the state. Apart from that this industry even contributes to the industrial output, export and employment sectors of the city. (KNN Bureau)
