New Delhi, Apr 11 (KNN)  To address the increasing demand for housing units in the state and with a view to improving infrastructure, the NDA government in Bihar has invited the private sector to pitch in.

By inviting private sector participation, the Bihar State Housing Board (BSHB) aims to provide a platform for rapid transformation in the housing sector and commercial infrastructure.

BSHB has thus far undertaken more than 70 projects in the major cities of Bihar to cater to various income groups.  With this move, the state government intends to create an enabling environment for private investment in the housing sector.

BSHB’s implementation of ‘Affordable Housing Policy with a focus on economically weaker section (EWS), lower income group (LIG), middle income group (MIG) housing through public private partnership (PPP) mode has been commended.

The state government has ambitious plans to develop sustainable EWS, LIG and MIG residential townships in 38 district headquarters of the state.

As far a commercial infrastructure is concerned, it has plans to set up malls, multiplexes and hotels as also higher income group (HIG) residential complexes.

Also in the pipeline are plans for satellite townships, urban villages in four metropolitan cities of Bihar, housing facilities in the rural-urban fringes and upgradation of existing housing colonies with world class basic amenities.

BSHB invites bids from specialists for the projects. (KNN)
