Binani Group to make Rs 3000 crore investment in West Bengal

Kolkata, Aug 9 (KNN) A move that could bring business opportunities for the MSME sector, the Binani Group has plans to invest over Rs 3,000 crore in cement, power and infrastructure business in West Bengal.

The Group had started its journey in metal business from Howrah 150 years ago.

Lining up a mega investment plan for Bengal, the Binani Group is reconnecting with Bengal with a whopping Rs 3,000 crore investment.

The biggest chunk of the investment -in excess of Rs 1,500 crore -may happen in cement and captive power plant.

“The state government here has undertaken a lot of development work. We want to be a part of that,” spokesperson from the Binani Group said.

Apart from this, other big investments coming to Bengal are - JSW Group is investing Rs 700 crore for cement plant in Salboni; OCL India of Dalmia Cement Bharat Group has set up a cement plant near Salboni for an investment of Rs 600 crore; ITC is investing over Rs 1500 crore in food parks across Bengal; Exide is planning to invest Rs 700 crore for expansion of its Haldia unit; Cognizant to set up its third facility in the State; ITC Infotech to invest in Bengal;  and Matix is investing Rs 3,600 crore in fertilizer plant in Bengal.
