CNG kit dealers concerned after Delhi Govt puts ban

New Delhi, June 25 (KNN) The CNG retrofitting business in the capital has come to a sudden standstill. Both authorised as well as unauthorised retrofitting centres have no work as the transport department has been conducting its own enquiries and inspections over the last few days.

The Delhi government has banned fitting of CNG conversion kits in vehicles in the capital following complaints of unauthorised dealers fitting uncertified kits in cars.

The transport department on Wednesday ordered all motor licensing officers (MLOs) to not approve or register CNG retro-fitment kits after they received complaints of unauthorised dealers selling uncertified kits.

KNN caught up CNG kit fitting centres where Vikas Khetrapal owner of Sai Autotech which is an authorised centre said that it is huge loss for the units.

"We are authorised CNG kit fitter from the transport department. We don’t have work right now and around 10 people are working under us. It is a big threat for their daily bread. The sale has been dipping for last four days," he said.

However, he said “we are doing genuine work so don't need to be troubled by such orders.”

Another dealer Manish kumar who owns, Sequential CNG centre said that there were few dealers who were installing faulty CNG kits in the vehicles. The enquiry is going on by Delhi government.

"We are getting calls but not the business. We used to fit around 25 kits daily but now a days we have no work," he said.

“Government has given us notice that CNG kit fitting would go online to avoid any duplicacy. We don’t have any work right now and we have just taken the approval.  It is good move as the unauthorised kits sales would go down and will be completely ban," he added.

"We have no work for a long but we have to pay rent and salaries of employee. But in a long term it is good move,” said Pawan Chawla, owner of W P CNG Automobiles.

Transport Minister of Delhi, Satyendar Jain reportedly found merit in the allegations and directed the transport department to file a police complaint. (KNN Bureau)
