Raipur/ Mumbai Feb 16 (KNN) Even as the Chhattisgarh government on Sunday said it is providing new opportunities to MSMEs to prosper and is also facilitating an "enabling eco system" for larger industries, the small industries feel that there are many things yet to be done.

Talking to KNN, General Secretary of Urla Industries Associations (UIA) BK Gupta said that Government has done many things for the MSMEs in Chhattisgarh but the industries are still not benefiting as there is complete slowdown across the country.

“We have seen the transformation in Chhattisgarh since last five years. Government had provided a package of Rs. 54 crore for the infrastructural development in Urla Industrial area,” he said adding that the impact is still not visible.

The Government has asked the industries to open the Provident fund accounts of units having at least 10 workers which earlier was 20. This is creating problems for the MSMEs, he explained.

“There is huge paper work being done in the state,” he added.

When asked about the demand for upcoming budget, he said that power rates need to be brought down as it is very high in the state.

There is purchase policy for the industries which is being not followed by the State Government departments, he complained.

However, chief minister Raman Singh said that the state government is currently focussing on sectors like agri-business, food processing, automotive, defence and IT-ITES.

He was speaking at the ‘Chhattisgarh Investment Summit' organised during the 'Make In India Week' here.(KNN Bureau)
