Govt announces CFA to boost tourism in north-east

New Delhi, Sept 7 (KNN) In order to boost the North-East tourism, the government has announced central finance assistance (CFA) for Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Nagaland which includes construction of cafeteria, guest houses, restaurants, park, amphitheatre etc.

“In a major boast to the North-East tourism sector, Tourism Minister K Chiranjeevi has approved CFA to various tourism development projects in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Nagaland,” an official statement said today.

Further, to develop infrastructure in Sikkim Rs 89.10 lakh will be given. The project involves the development of amenity block, construction of eco-friendly walkways and landscaping and beautification.

In addition, an amount of Rs 160 lakh has been sanctioned to strengthen wayside tourism facilities along with the national highway in Sikkim, it said.

This project involves the construction of car parking area, way side amenities etc.

Other work includes the development of infrastructure like tourist accommodation, cafeteria, viewing deck and water bodies at waterfall sites.

For developing Arunachal Pradesh as tourist destination, an amount of Rs 463.34 lakh has been sanctioned and involves the construction of guest houses, restaurants, dormitory complex and development of waterfall viewing gallery, park and amphitheatre.

Government has also sanctioned money for developing tourist complex at Hunli in Arunachal Pradesh. This region is part of the lower Dibang valley district and is popular for its scenic beauty.

“With a view to project the region as a major destination, government has conceived this project as a flagship project to preserve and promote eco-tourism and provide accessibility to tourist in terms of adventure,” the statement said.

In order to boost eco-adventure and culture of Kuhuboto situated in Nagaland, an amount of Rs 100 lakh has been sanctioned.

Kuhuboto is a virgin tourist destination which is rich in natural beauty. This place is endowed with lush green mountains and valleys, flowers, mountain streams etc.

This project involves the construction of hotel, tourist reception centre, open air theatre, public toilet, food court, parking area and cafeteria. (KNN/GUNJ)
