IIFT Shimla to benefit MSMEs

Shimla, Sep 13 (KNN) State government of Himachal Pradesh would provide suitable land for setting up regional centre of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) in Shimla which would largely benefit micro small and medium enterprises (MSME) units in the state.

“The State Government would provide suitable land for setting up Rs 50 crore regional centre of IIFT in Shimla that would largely benefit MSME units in the state,” said Industry Minister of Himachal Pradesh Mukesh Agnihotri here.

The Himachal Pradesh government has also approached the Union Commerce Ministry to enhance the limit of capital investment subsidy from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 50 lakh.  The demand was made by the State Industry Minister.

Further, the state government would provide suitable land for setting up spice-park at Nadaun for which Agriculture University of Palampur has agreed to transfer 10 acre of land, Agnihotri said.

The state will soon have a regional centre of the Tea Board at Palampur and start a pilot project for coffee plantation, this was announced earlier.

Further, the state government has already sent a proposal regarding the opening of vegetable packaging and processing centres at Solan and Nagrota Bagwan. Suitable land for these centres would be selected soon.

Earlier, the Central government has granted an assistance of Rs 15.30 crore for setting up of new juice concentration plant at Gumma and upgradation of existing plant at Parwanoo at the cost of Rs 12.40 crore.  (KNN/GUNJ)
