Jammu MSMEs not getting pending power lines as power dept has no fund for spare parts

Jammu, June 2 (KNN) The city based MSME entrepreneurs are upset over non-release of pending power connections in the industrial units at Bari Brahmaba which they say is affecting their production. The power development department too has turned downed their requests due to lack of funds to buy spare parts.

In this regard, the members of Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) held an urgent meeting today under the President ship of Lalit Mahajan.

The MSME entrepreneurs discussed the issue regarding the non-commissioning of new BB-III, 33KV line from 50X2 MW Grid Station, Bari Brahmana.

The members present in the meeting raised serious concern in respect of non-release of pending power connections of the industrial units which are pending since long due to non-availability of the additional line.

The matter was brought into the knowledge of Chief Engineer, M&RE for the early release of Power Connections as the BB-III line is ready for commissioning.

“He has shown his inability to release the Power Connections as the Chief Engineer, System & Operation not in a position to charge the line due to non-availability of requisite infrastructure at the Grid station,” BBIA said.

“Subsequently, we have taken up the matter with the Chief Engineer System & Operation in this regard but he shown his inability to charge the line due to non-availability of spare parts for the bay as the Department has removed the infrastructure from the Bay at Grid Station and do not have the funds for the purchase of requisite spares amounting to Rs. 14 lakhs to commission the line,” said the association.

“It is matter of great concern that due to mismanagement at Grid station and shifting of the infrastructure to some other places, for which the replacement not yet received by the department, due to which the unit holders are suffering very badly due to non-availability of the Power Connections. More over the Department is also losing revenue due to non-supply of the power to the prospective unit holders in spite of the fact that the Power is available at Grid Station,” Ajay Langer, General Secretary, BBIA said.

The association further highlighted that with the intervention of Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh, who is also the Power Minister of J&K,  Rs 70 lakh was given to the PDD for a new 33KV line but the department failed to commission the line which shows the casual attitude of the department towards the industrial sector.

BBIA has appealed Singh and the Industries & Commerce Minister Chander Prakash with a to intervene into this matter and issue necessary orders to resolve the issue on war footing basis for release of  pending power connection to Industrial Sector of Bari Brahmana. (KNN Bureau)
