Korean trade agency to set up office in Kolkata for investing in WB

Kolkata, July 23 (KNN) Keeping in mind the sustainable growth in the economy of the state in the past five years, Korean Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) has decided to set up its office in Kolkata.

This would be the first office of KOTRA, which is an organisation of South Korean government to look into the promotion of trade, in eastern India and it will open a door for more investment in the state.

Amit Mitra, the state Finance Minister, said y that Dong Seok Choi, Chief Director General of KOTRA on Friday held a meeting with senior officials of the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC). “He has shown interest in setting up their office in Kolkata. It is a matter of pride for the state as the organisation has chosen the city to set up their office which is the first and only one in eastern India,” he said.

The state government has assured all support to KOTRA in setting up of their office in Kolkata.

Meanwhile, to attract foreign investment in the state, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will go on a four-day visit to Italy and Germany in September. Two apex chambers of commerce and industry from Germany have invited Banerjee to go with a business delegation. (KNN Bureau)
