Maharashtra Govt – KTI inks pact on skill development; aims to provide jobs to 1 lakh people in 5 yrs

Mumbai, Feb 10 (KNN) With an endeavour to bridge the skill gap in the industries and provide employment to one lakh youth in the next five years, the Maharashtra Government has entered into a pact with the Kohinoor Technical Institute (KTI).
In this context, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Department, Government of Maharashtra and KTI to develop skilled manpower in the state.
The MoU was signed in the presence of state chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Through the MoU, both sides envisages to explore possible collaborations for increasing employment potential in the State of Maharashtra by enabling supply of skilled manpower in the desired sector; strengthening the training infrastructure related to the requisite skill set; as well as by adopting new age technologies as per the demand of industries.
Sameer Joshi, CEO & Director, KTI, said, “It is heart-warming that the State Government of Maharashtra is conscious of the need to provide skill training for the future generation through Skill Development initiatives. With this collaboration with state government, KTI aims to empower the young workforce of India by imparting skills that are government approved and industry ready.”
Under the MoU, the state department will facilitate the availability of manpower by making the labour management information system (LMIS) available to KTI through its existing web portal, KTI said in a statement.
KTI will extend technical support and provide manpower for training of trainers where necessary.
KTI, by enhancing skill ecosystem in the State of Maharashtra, will try to ensure enhancement in the employability potential in Maharashtra State leading to generation of employment of one lakh youth in a period of next five years that will be directly/indirectly employed by KTI, the statement added.
KTI was established in 1967 and is a pioneer in vocational training for technical courses. The Institute is a training partner of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). (KNN Bureau)
