NDMC comes up with online-only building plan applications

New Delhi, May 19 (KNN) With a view to improve ease of doing Business in Delhi, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has started online submission of all applications for building plans.

Users will be able to submit an online form, pay the application fee, get a system-generated date of inspection, and get alerts at each stage through text messages or emails. The NDMC has also set up a facilitation centre at its headquarters – Palika Kendra – on Sansad Marg.

Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu had announced in April that all sanctions for constructions in Delhi and Mumbai would move to an online platform, with approvals taking no more than 30 days. Currently, the application process takes about 60 days, and includes a manual interface for scrutiny of building plans, calculating fee, and inspecting sites.

The President of Patparganj FIE (Functional Industrial Estate) Entrepreneurs Association, Sanjay Guar told KNN, “East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) and other municipal corporations of Delhi should come up with  the initiatives like  this.”

He suggested that less interface of public with Government servants would lead to less chances of delaying as well as increase the transparency.

Ministerial Corporation of Delhi has added this work under the Ease of doing Business which we welcome, he said. (KNN Bureau)
