NMCC ensuring safety in small fabrication units

Mumbai, Apr 16 (KNN) Navi Mumbai Disaster Management Committee (NMCC) is taking steps towards assuring safety in the fabrication units which make window grills and other metal works.

According to a media report, the NMMC disaster management cell has asked the fire brigade to start inquiring about various fabrication units to ensure that adequate fire safety measures are in place.

Recently an RTI query was files to the civic body about safety measures being taken for such fabrication units in the civic jurisdiction.

Mostly, the fabrication units are micro, small and medium enterprises and according to the report quoting a municipal corporation official, there are over 140 such illegal fabrication units in the total 29 gaothan areas under civic jurisdiction. (With media inputs)
