Not only unrest in Valley, power too is a problem for MSMEs in J&K

Jammu, Aug 2 (KNN) The unrest in the Valley has already taken a toll on the industries in J&K and adding more to their problems is the poor power situation which impacts their peak production hours massively.

The MSMEs in the Digiana Industrial Association, Jammu, are crying due to poor power supply during the day time and lack of power station in the area.

The Federation of Industries Jammu (FOIJ) under the Chairmanship of Lalit Mahajan and in the presence of Jinteder Aul, President of the Association at Digiana Industrial Estate (ADIE) held a meeting to discuss about the poor power supply in the area.

During the course of discussions, Aul said that 150 Micro & Small Scale Units located in Digiana Industrial Estate are suffering very badly due to un-scheduled power failures. At present the power position is so bad that the power supply remains disturbed during the day time resulting into huge production and financial losses.

“The matter was taken with Director, Industries & Commerce for the construction of dedicated Receiving Station in the Industrial Estate and a DPR (Detailed Project Report) was prepared by Chief Engineer M&RE Jammu for the construction of 33/11 KV – 1/63 MVA Receiving Station with the estimated cost of Rs. 280.7 lakhs and forwarded to the Director of Industries Jammu for the grant of funds which was duly forwarded by the Director of Industries Jammu to Commissioner/Secretary Industries but till date no action has been taken by the Power Development Department which shows the casual attitude of the Department towards Digiana Industrial Estate,” said the association.

The industry has requested Nirmal Kumar Singh, Deputy Chief Minister and also Minister for Power and Chander Prakash, Industries & Commerce Minister to intervene into the matter & issue immediate orders for the release of Rs. 280.7 lakh in favour of Power Development Department to start the construction of Power Station for Digiana Industrial Estate which will provide great relief to industrial units working there, the association added.
