Power development dept failed to provide uninterrupted power supply to industry: Jammu MSMEs

Jammu, Aug 31 (KNN) The Jammu MSMEs, who are crippled with problem of acute power shortage, have urged the state government to issue immediate orders to improve power infrastructure in the state and restore power supply at least during the peak production hours.

An Executive Committee meeting of Federation of Industries Jammu was held under the Chairmanship of Lalit Mahajan in which the members present in the meeting raised serious concern as Power Development Department failed to supplied 24 hours Uninterrupted Power to Industrial Sector.

“The Chief Engineer M&RE, Jammu had already instructed the Executive Engineers STD Division I & II to ensure uninterrupted power supply to Industrial sector but the instructions were subsequently withdrawn by the Chief Engineer for the reason best known to the Department,” said the industry body.

“On one side, Government is inviting industrial houses in our state to setup their units with the promise of providing uninterrupted power supply but on the other hand it fails to provide uninterrupted quality power to the existing Industrial Units working in the State resulting great resentment amongst the stake holders,” said Mahajan in a statement.

At present the units located in the Bari Brahmana, Gangyal, Samba, Birpur & Digiana Industrial Areas are suffering very badly due to unscheduled power curtailment during day time also resulting huge financial losses to the unit holders.

In spite of repeated request & reminders to the Power Development Department for providing supply from the dedicated industrial feeders to Gangyal, Birpur & Digiana Industrial Areas, no action is taken so far & the power to the Domestic areas is also being fed from the receiving stations in these Industrials Complexes resulting unscheduled tripping & curtailments, he added.

The industrialists pointed that the request for the upgradation of receiving station meant for Gangyal, Birpur & Digiana Industrial Estates is still pending with the Government since long but no action has been taken till date which shows the casual attitude of the Department towards the Industrial Sector.

Federation of Industries Jammu has requested Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh, Deputy Chief Minister and also Minister for Power and Chander Prakash, Industries & Commerce Minister to intervene into the matter and issue immediate orders for the restoration of 24 hours uninterrupted power supply to the industrial sector with the instructions to the concerned officials for the shifting of domestic load from the receiving stations meant for industrial sector. The Federation has also sought upgradation of all the receiving stations located in Industrial Areas to ensure the uninterrupted power supply to the Industrial Units. (KNN Bureau)
