Ludhiana Businesses seek 30-day billing cycle to tackle irregular power bills

Ludhiana, May 6 (KNN) Ludhiana based businesses who have commercial power meters installed at their premises have urged Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) to establish a monthly billing cycle that spans at least thirty days.

The lack of a consistent billing cycle for commercial power has resulted in business owners receiving bills that vary in length, ranging from 20 to 25 days, among others.

As a consequence, these inconsistencies have caused confusion for the businessmen, as they find it difficult to keep track of their monthly due dates and occasionally face delays and penalties.

Jaswinder Singh Thukral, president of Janta Nagar Small Scale Manufacturers Association  said, “The billing cycle of commercial consumers is not uniform, which leads to confusion and problems in maintaining books of accounts.”

Thukral urged the PSPCL to resolve this issue and make a mandatory 30-day billing cycle for all commercial users.

The industrialists are also considering picking up this issue with the PSPCL officials in their next meeting, reported TOI.

Inderjit Singh Navyug, former president of United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association said, “This issue of uneven billing period for commercial power category consumers is quite serious, and in the next industry-PSPCL meeting, we will take this up and push for a time-bound solution of this issue from the department’s side.”  (KNN Bureau)
