Small businesses to benefit if steel industry expands in J’khand: MSMEs

Ranchi, June 16 (KNN) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Jharkhand will definitely get the benefit if the steel industry of the state gets expansion, said Kunal Ajmani, Vice President of Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

His comments came after the Union Steel and Mines Minister Narendra Singh Tomar assured all possible help to develop steel industry and mining sector in Jharkhand.

In a meeting with Chief Minister Raghubar Das, Tomar discussed matters pertaining to reviving closed steel industries and mines, development of new steel industries and mining works, a new steel freight corridor and more, an official release said.

Talking to KNN, the Vice President said that MSMEs can benefit from steel industry in Jharkhand because MSMEs work as a feeding industry for the big units.

He requested the Government to give preference to the MSMEs. “25 per cent quota should be fixed to procure material goods from the local MSMEs,” Ajmani said.

Meanwhile, he also said that raw material is not available for MSMEs as it should be available. The state is blessed with coal and minerals but it has become a curse. Even 10 per cent of work that should have happened in 14 years did not happen.

“Mines are not operating here. Maximum mines have been closed since 10 years.  Due to all these factors Government is facing losses and local businessmen are suffering too,” he claimed.

Kunal further explained “We have land issue here but Chief Minister is taking initiative for the single window system. Policies need to be changed soon.”

Union Steel Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that all possible help would be provided to develop steel industry and mining in Jharkhand and the state could contact him anytime in this regard. (KNN/ AR)
