Bangalore, Jan 8 (KNN) Industrialists are now eyeing Belgavi to set up industries, mainly because the city is the second capital of Karnataka and the availability of land in Bangalore has become a major issue for the MSME sector, said Vandana Priya Puranik, an entrepreneur from Belagavi.

Puranik, who is also an Executive Committee member of Laghu Udyog Bharti (Karnataka), told KNN that Small Scale Industries and district in-charge Minister Satish L. Jarkiholi, has assured that within 3 months, 20 acres of land will be identified and allotted to the industry with the help of District Administrations.

The minister said this during a district-level Investors Meet in Belagavi on Thursday.

With an endeavour to promote women entrepreneurship in the state, Puranik urged the Minister to organize a 2-day state level women entrepreneurship seminar. The Minister assured full support to the entrepreneur on this.

Puranik also apprised the Minister about the industries in Belagavi and discussed the issues related to the MSMEs.

As many as 120 proposals seeking establishment of various industrial units in Belagavi district were cleared at the district-level Investors Meet at the Central Hall of the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha here on Thursday.

The meet was organised jointly by the district administration and District Industries Centre as a prelude to the Global Investors Meet scheduled in Bengaluru early next month.

As many as 93 industrial establishments and entrepreneurs submitted 400 proposals projecting a total investment of Rs. 2,443 crore, of which 120 proposals were cleared on the spot.

Jarkiholi, who inaugurated the event, said that the government is working to give a boost to industrial progress, particularly in tier two and three cities and towns across the State, where Belagavi was the most ideal due to its good natural resources, educated and trained skilled human resources, besides connectivity through national highways, railways and air.

He promised that proposals satisfying the necessary requirements would be cleared on priority. (KNN Bureau)
