Technology Centre to be set up in Chhattisgarh to boost MSMEs: UIA

Raipur, June 16 (KNN) Government is planning to set up a Technology Centre in Chhattisgarh in order to technologically upgrade the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the state.

The Union Ministry of MSME would soon commence the work for setting up a ‘Technology Centre’ in the state.

Talking to KNN, President of Urla Industries Association (UIA), Vinod Kumar Kejriwal said that if upgradation of industries takes place in the state then value addition would start, as a result of this state would flourish.

“Even labourers in the state are not technological upgraded,” he said.

For selection of places for new Centres, preference has been given to the states in which there are no MSME Technology Centres at present.

“Central Government is focussing on the growth of Chhattisgarh MSMEs but not much development has taken place here. A tool room was to be set up here for which the land was allotted but the work is yet to begin,” he revealed.

The Ministry of MSME is currently running 18 Technology Centres (10 Tool Rooms and 8 Technology Development Centres) to provide technological support to the MSME sector. (KNN Bureau)
