Ranchi, Jan 4 (KNN) "Unless the basic issues are resolved, nothing will help the industry." This was the view of the small and medium enterprises of the state after Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that the government is framing a small scale industry framework.

In a conversation with KNN, President of Jharkhand Small Industries Association (JSIA), Yogendra Ojha, said, “There are lots of issues that the industry here faces like – power, land, law and order, raw material etc.”

Recently, during a press conference, CM Das had said, "We are expected to give a concrete shape to the policy in a month's time."

Das said Jharkhand has abundant mineral resources and the mining-based policy would help to set up value-added plants as small scale industries generate maximum employment opportunities.

However, the industrialists, especially the small and medium scale entrepreneurs, have been crying about the non-availability of raw-materials in the mineral rich state.

“There are so many mines in the state but maximum of them are closed,” said Ojha adding that this had led to non-availability of raw material in the state.

Ojha also pointed that land is a major issue in the state. “The lands are not available easily here. Even if we want to set up more industries here, we don’t get the lands easily.”

Power cut is also a worrisome reason for the industry in the state as the state witnesses’ lots of power cuts and voltage fluctuations. On this issue, Das said, “The power sector should be privatized here in order to improve the situation. Industry faces lots of power cuts and voltage issues affecting the production massively.”

The industry association met the CM recently, during which Das assured them to resolve their issues within 10-15 days.

Das recently said, “We want to make mineral-rich Jharkhand a hub for sectors across," the chief minister said adding that the state has enough potential for the growth of automobile and energy sectors.

Industrial development estates in Jharkhand such as Ranchi and Bokaro Industrial Area Development Authority have attracted Rs 1000 crore online for allotment of 200 acres for the projects in the state, he said. (KNN Bureau)
