Lucknow, Nov 24 (KNN) With the view to boost industries in the state, UP government has accepted the proposal by industrialists to set up industrial zones promoted by them.

For this, the government would change the land use and convert land into industrial areas.

The state government has been facing problems in acquiring land for proposal by industrialists to set up industrial zones promoted by them.

The industrialists have been raising the issue for quite some time and had also expressed their unwillingness to set up units in government industrial zones.

“We have accepted the proposal by industrialists to set up industrial zones promoted by them. It will help in speeding up industrialization in the state,” Nitin Agarwal, Minister of State Small Scale Industries said, according to a media report.

He added that land ranging between 15 acres to 100 acres will be arranged by industrialists. The government will then sanction their proposal for converting the same into industrial zone.

“We will provide all help. We will change the land use making it industrial area. Power facility and other logistics will be provided by the state government,” Agarwal said. However, other amenities, including roads and security, will be provided by the industrialists.

“Internal infrastructure will be the responsibility of industrialists but we will provide all possible help,” the minister said. Once the industrial zone is earmarked, industrialists promoting it will be free to sell plots at their convenience. The only restriction will be that it has to be used for industrial purposes. Agarwal said the process for finalizing private industrial zones has already started and soon, a policy will be drafted. It will then be sent to the state cabinet for approval, following which, it will be implemented.

“Already, the process has begun. It was proving to be very tedious for the government to acquire land, develop it and later sell the plots for industrial use. Lots of restrictions are in place when it comes to monitoring of plots even after the sale. It requires too much time and also often proves cumbersome for the industrialists. We got a few proposals from private players to develop their own industrial zones and we accepted it,” he added. (KNN Bureau)
