Kolkata, Feb 17 (KNN)  In an effort to ease the lives of common people, the West Bengal Government is setting up the State’s first fair price vegetable market in Behala.

The moves comes after the huge success of the fair price medicine shops and diagnostic centres, and the temporary fair price stalls for selling potatoes and other vegetables, an official release said.

The market is being set up by the State’s Agricultural Marketing Department, with the assistance of Kolkata Municipal Corporation.  It would be located on a 7-8 cottahs parcel of land on Rajani Mukherjee Road in ward number 118 (which is in Behala).

According to the release, vegetables, fish, eggs and meat would be sold in the market.  A sum of Rs 30 lakh has been spent on the construction.

The market would house 41 shops, and 18 slabs for fish and small vegetable-sellers. (KNN Bureau)
